Lipa Noi is on the west coast of Koh Samui, south of Nathon. Its long beach has shallow, calm water much of the year and faces the sunset, with green hills behind and very little traffic.
It is one of the quietest coasts on the island, with plenty of space and a few small resorts. Nathon's town services and the car ferry piers to the mainland are close, while Chaweng and the airport are on the other side of the island, a longer drive. Lipa Noi suits families with young children, people who work from home and anyone who prefers sunsets to nightlife. Land is often more generous here than on the busy coasts.
Good to know: the beach is very shallow, perfect for children, less so for swimming at low tide. Everyday shopping and banks are in Nathon, a few minutes north.
